„Winter“ – The Debut Corset Collection

„Winter then in its early and clear stages, was a purifying engine that ran unhindered over city and country, alerting the stars to sparkle violently and shower their silver light into the arms of bare upreaching trees. It was a mad and beautiful thing that scoured raw the souls of animals and man, driving them before it until they loved to run. And what it did to Northern forests can hardly be described, considering that it iced the branches of the sycamores on Chrystie Street and swept them back and forth until they rang like ranks of bells.“ – from Winter’s Tale by Mark Helprin

The beautiful cinematography of last year’s movie Winter’s Tale threw me back to having read Mark Helprin’s magical book upon which it was loosely based. His poetic language virtually transformed the season of winter into one of this fable’s central characters.

New Year’s Day – A Walk in Greenwood Cemetery

New Year’s Day is often a time of reflection on the past year as well as when many people make plans or goals for themselves for the upcoming year. The past year has been a very busy one for me as we prepare for the launch of deux lunes. And happily we are only days away from the official launch of the deux lunes website and shop. Not to mention my first deux lunes corset collection, Winter. I am soooo excited to show you the results of all our work.

Exposed A History of Lingerie - FIT Museum

Exposed: A History of Lingerie

The Museum at FIT – 3 June to 15 November 2014

The latest exhibit at The Fashion Institute of Technology’s Museum is a three hundred year history of lingerie. And although I have a ton of sewing and other work to do before our upcoming photo shoot, I knew I had to take a little time out and see this exhibit. The garments on display, in largely chronological order, demonstrate the changes in form, fabric, function, and even color. It is a very informative exhibit, especially in our current era of lingerie as outerwear.

The Tartan Corset

At the Oxford Conference on Corsetry 2014 I was proud to work with corset model Threnody in Velvet in presenting my Tartan Corset. I have long thought about doing a Celtic inspired corset and this seemed to be the perfect opportunity to see what I could come up with. Quite off my radar as I was developing this corset were two events that would place Scotland and its culture in the forefront of much of the world: First was the marketing and premier of the “Outlander” TV series based on the much beloved book series from Diana Gabaldon. Second and arguably far more important was the vote on Scottish independence.

Beginnings and The Oxford Conference of Corsetry 2014

Welcome to the first posting to the deux lunes magazine. It’s been a crazy busy time here as we are excitedly preparing for the roll out of our first deux lunes corset collection as well as the official launch of deux lunes. I’ve beensketching, designing, fitting, sourcing fabrics and embellishments, and finally starting to sew the garments that we will be presenting to you. I’m so excited for the upcoming photo shoot, and the opportunity to show off what I have been doing.
