Goals for The New Year, Not Resolutions

Some highlights of our New Year's Eve festivities.

Goals for The New Year, Not Resolutions

With the new year having begun just hours ago, depending on which time zone you reside, I find myself looking excitedly to the year to come. New Years for most people is both a period of introspection of the year that was and an opportunity to look at what is to come. Okay, there are also a lot of big parties where people are not looking forward or back, just enjoying the moment.

One might expect someone who enjoys history as much as me to be looking to the year that was. And to be fair I do like looking back from time to time. It should be fairly obvious that one of the highpoints for me was the founding of Copper Lune, along with organising my first full fashion shoot, and launching the company website and webstore. Although these events appeared to all happen in the last part of 2012, there was a lot of work that came before and occupied me for much of the year.

In my personal life I have never been one for resolutions, although I don’t really have an explanation as to why. Instead I have always preferred to jot down a short list of goals. The list is meant to be more of a challenge than a „to do list“ and thus contains a bit more than I could probably ever achieve in one year’s time. It is always there to refer to and keep me focused on the things that are the most important to me.

So, I thought I might lay out some of the goals I have for Copper Lune for the coming year. That said, as we are always looking for new opportunities and interested in meeting the needs of our customers this list may change a bit as the year progresses.

  • Better, and more photos: For Christmas we received a bunch of new photographic equipment including a digital SLR camera. We will be using this to document more of our projects and inspirations and present it to you on this blog, as well as facebook, Twitter, and Pinterest.

  • (Of course) New corset designs: I’m always sketching, especially corsets. There are just so many shapes I am looking forward to experimenting with. Much like creating a bra, there is a large amount of design, i.e. structural engineering, that goes into making a corset, especially one that fits well while maintaining a fair amount of comfort. And a test fit corset requires far more labour and time than most garments so it is a much longer design process. Still I would love to say that we will present you with five, no six, well at minimum four new corset shapes in the new year. The final number will depend heavily on how many custom corset orders we receive.

  • Bras: Speaking of bras, I hope to present our first bra to you this year – a long line bra – a way to combine corset knowledge with a bra.

  • Copper Lune everywhere: We will be doing everything we can to make the Copper Lune brand better known. This will be by expanding our presence on the web, pursuing various forms of advertising, and maybe even putting our corsets on some of the women of the world that we admire.

Have a great 2013 everyone!
