Heading to Manhattan Vintage this Weekend

In the NYC area and still looking for something to do this weekend? My top recommendation would be Manhattan Vintage. It is billed as “New York’s premier vintage clothing and accessories shopping event.” It features 80 top vintage clothing and accessories dealers. The event is held at the Metropolitan Pavilion this Friday and Saturday.

125 West 18th Street, NYC
Friday February 6th 1PM to 8PM
Saturday February 7th 11AM to 6PM

This will be my first time attending Manhattan Vintage, and I’m excited to see what I can find. My designs are often influenced by updating elements from vintage garments. I’ve also heard great things about this event. In fact my recent collaborator on our Valentine’s Day collection, Jennifer McCulloch, is a long time participant. She considers it one of the best events of the year for a vintage shopper. Note, along with all the nicest pieces from her shop Olive’s Very Vintage, Jennifer will also be bringing along deux lunes corsets and garter belts.

I’m a big fan of vintage clothing for a number of reasons. First, clothing just used to be made better. Vintage shopping is a way to get higher quality clothing at a fraction of the cost you would pay for similar quality new. But much more importantly, adding well-selected vintage pieces to your wardrobe allows you to create a timeless style, and one that is uniquely you. And with so many vendors corralled into one location it makes the search a bit easier.

Have a great weekend.
